All about 吉岡唯 5:03 PM

Yoshioka Yui (吉岡唯), known by her stage name, YUI (born March 26, 1987 in Fukuoka, Japan), is a japanese singer-songwriter and actress. She sings and plays acoustic guitar, and writes her own songs, and apart from playing acoustic guitar, she also likes watching movies, reading books, and playing badminton.
She’s an all round musician. She plays gitar drums piano bass and even flute. Yeay~ she likes badminton.. me too~ *happy*

Her third single “LIFE” was the fifth ending theme for BLEACH, a popular Japanese anime series, which has brought her some international fame.
VERY INTERNATIONAL!! She got fans from Spain Indonesia UK US .. well I forgot some place.. I’ve check out their fansite but it was in a writing I cannot read. ><*

YUI began writing poems in ninth grade. At the age of 16, by recommendation of a friend [Bianco Nero], she began studying song, songwriting, and guitar at a private music school in her native Fukuoka. Aspiring to become professional, she carried her guitar around and sang at local places such as the seashore of Shingu and in the middle of the rice fields of Kaminofu.

Ano toki.. Kanojo wa Kimetanda..

It was in elementary school did she decided she wanted to be a singer. But it was after her hospitalization [??] did she really went to the music route. Story :

“During her third year in middle school, following the influence of her mother, Yui began keeping a journal of everyday feelings and poetry. Because of this, by the time she was in high school, she began writing songs.
[2] While in high school she worked a part-time job to help pay for tuition. Always busy, with her time steadily disappearing, she thought there was no longer a road to music. Eventually her body would breakdown and she found herself under hospitalization. While in the hospital, with the time to consider her life, she was overwhelmed with the desire to make music. She decided that school and music could not coexist. Upon leaving the hospital she encountered a live street performance and expressed her desire to pursue a musical career to the band, Bianco Nero, at the end of the concert. Bianco Nero recommended to Yui that she should join a private music school and soon, she dropped out of high school and seriously began studying songwriting and guitar at a juku [Cram school] in her hometown of Fukuoka. Aspiring to become a professional, she carried her guitar around and sang at local places at the entrance of Tenjin station in Fukuoka.”

How YUI was discovered

In March 2003, at an audition hosted by Sony Music Japan, all judges evaluated her with the highest score, which caused a fierce scramble among labels. At this audition, she sang three songs - her first song “Why me”, which was later coupled with her debut single, as well as “It’s happy line” and “I know”, which were included on her indie single - as opposed to the audition rule that a participant could only sing two songs. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, she strummed her guitar and sang. The judges and the others present claimed that “the performance created a tremendous aura from her heavenly voice, and captured the hearts of the whole audience”.
So basically sitting cross-legged on the floor is YUI signature. She would do it in her concert for songs like GoodByedays. Happyline. Those type of songs.. you got the idea right??

Upon leaving her home of Fukuoka for Tokyo, YUI wrote the song “feel my soul”. She was planning release on an indie label as a tribute to her hometown, when the song caught the ears of Fuji TV producer, Mr. Yamaguchi, who happened to see the demo video clip. He claimed YUI’s voice haunted him so much that he went out of his way to visit the recording studio himself. He even made his channel’s prime-time drama an extraordinary tie-in with YUI’s debut track.
Must be a really HAUNTING voice from YUI to make the producer went to the recording himself. Hahaha

Although she is not the most comfortable when it comes to talking to people, she enjoys communicating with her audience at street performances in the Tenjin district of Fukuoka.
Doing these street performances helped Yui to eventually overcome her shyness . So newbie artists.. go do some live performances.. hehe ^^

Which makes YUI their senior. She met with them while the girls were planning some new song. So after few session together, Stereopony made their 3rd single- I Do It.] The song definately have the YUI-vibe in it. Here's a video of it.

ステレオポニー×YUI I do it PV

ステレオポニー3rdシングル『I do it』が4月22日発売決定!作曲:YUI 作詞:AIMI 編曲:ステレオポニー&northa+ プロデューサー:HISASHI KONDOという夢の楽曲!!

So now you know YUI too. She's the first female artist i really fell in love with. wait.. Boa was the first female artist i fell for.. hehe. But im not so much into Boa nowadays. Anyone know her new news??? xD

YUI persona + songs.. really captivating. A song that really reached out to the listener.
Here's a thought, now that she has her driving license, i wonder if she would drive to the beach adn watch sunset? relating this to her Driving Today song in her single.ahaha!! ^^

Yui is well known for her humbleness and one of the respectful female artist in Japan. She don't really care much about her apperance. in terms of make-ups and all. And go for casual yet stylish looks. And even without the heavy make-up she always looks amazingly stunning. Agree??

This post was meant to be filled with pictures but damn blogger always crash everytime I upload something. So this is the best i can do . I mean.. I've been staring at the comp all day for this. hahaha.

One Q :: Was the info enough? for newbies .. yea sure.. But for me.. I need more!! yeay~ \O/

K ..dats ol folks!!
